How driver network jobs are charged

What leaves your network wallet when a network driver delivers, what stays reserved while a job is open, how top-ups, the monthly cap and the low-balance warning work, and how cash collected by a network driver reaches your customer.

Orders you open to the driver network are paid from a prepaid wallet, not invoiced afterwards. The platform vets and pays the drivers; you see one charge per job. This article follows the money. Setup and the settings are in Use the driver network.

The wallet

Driver network shows three amounts in your company currency:

AmountMeaning
BalanceEverything in the wallet, including money reserved for open jobs
Reserved for open jobsThe price of network jobs that were opened or accepted and are not yet charged, plus cash on delivery that a network driver still holds (see below)
AvailableBalance minus Reserved for open jobs: what a new job can use

An order can only be opened to the network while Available covers its price. Otherwise the order page says Your network wallet does not cover this job, shows what is available and what is needed, and offers Top up wallet. Two orders opened at the same time cannot spend the same money.

Example: you topped up $200.00 and two jobs of $45.00 and $60.00 are open. Balance $200.00, Reserved for open jobs $105.00, Available $95.00. A $120.00 job cannot be opened until you top up at least $25.00.

Topping up

Top up takes a card payment on Stripe's checkout page. The minimum is $10.00 and the maximum $5,000.00 in one top-up (in your currency). The wallet is credited when the payment clears; it shows as Top-up under Recent activity. Warn me below sets the amount under which Your wallet is running low appears, and the warning re-arms after your next top-up.

What a job costs

The price is worked out by the platform's rate card for the market of the pickup: what the driver earns (including bonuses) plus the platform fee. Open the order's Driver network card to see the lines and the Total before you send it. The charge leaves the wallet when the order is delivered, as one Delivery entry. Waiting time beyond the free minutes is added at that point, so the final charge can be a little higher than the quote. A tip the customer added to the order is charged to you at cost, with no platform fee, and goes to the driver in full. If the job is cancelled or never delivered, nothing is charged and the reservation is released.

With Monthly spend cap set, a job that would take this month's network spend over the cap is refused before any money moves. You get one email when the month passes 80 % of the cap.

You can take a network job back yourself while the driver has not yet collected the parcel.

Cash on delivery with a network driver

A network driver who takes cash at the door holds your customer's money, and the platform pays that driver weekly, so the platform settles the cash instead of you:

  1. When the driver collects, the amount is credited to your network wallet as Cash on delivery, but it counts under Reserved for open jobs (not spendable) until the platform has the cash.
  2. The platform recovers the cash either by keeping it out of the driver's weekly payout or by receiving it from the driver. Then the hold is released.
  3. You do not receive cash or resolve a shortfall for these collections: the COD page says that a network driver collected the cash and the platform settles it.

Your customer is credited what was collected, the same as for your own drivers. If the receiver paid less than due, the short payment is decided on the COD page like any other (Collect cash on delivery from drivers).
