Setting up
Do I need a warehouse to use NemiRoute?
No. Point-to-point couriers book direct jobs: the driver collects at the sender and drives straight to the receiver. You don't create a depot: Home depot stays empty on drivers and vehicles, and portal orders collect at the customer's pickup address. Only routes need a depot. See Set up without a depot.
Can I do scheduled depot runs and rush jobs at the same time?
Yes. Book depot work with the warehouse as Depot and rush work as No depot — direct job. Routes only pick up depot orders; direct jobs go straight to a driver. See Set up with a depot.
We have hubs in two cities. Do we need two accounts?
No. One account holds every depot. Send each dispatcher only their depots' order alerts with Depot scope (everyone still sees every depot's records; use the Depot filter on Orders to focus on one). See Set up with several depots.
Can I bring in my customers and open orders from spreadsheets?
Yes: customers, addresses, zones and orders import from CSV (orders also from Excel). Drivers and vehicles are added one by one. See Import your existing data.
How long does setup take?
Most couriers are ready in a week: company and depots, then prices and tax, billing, customers, drivers, a test order. See Start here and the Go-live checklist.
Canada
Does it handle GST, HST, QST and PST?
Yes. Turn on tax in Tax and enter your registration numbers. By default GST/HST and QST apply to courier work, while BC PST, SK PST and MB RST apply only to goods and materials. Tax follows the delivery address unless you choose otherwise. See Tax settings.
Can I invoice in Canadian dollars?
Yes. Set Company currency to CAD in General settings before your first invoice: it locks after that. See Company profile and branding.
Can I use kilograms and kilometres, or pounds and miles?
Either. Choose your units in General settings. Forms, labels, PDFs, the driver app and CSV files all follow them.
Does it understand Canadian postal codes?
Yes. Addresses take codes like M5V 2T6, and you price by area with Zones built from the first three characters (the FSA), such as M5V or H2X. See Zones and postal prefixes.
Does it know our statutory holidays?
Yes. In Business calendar, pick the Canada federal list and your province. Delivery promises skip closed days. See Business calendar.
Can customers and receivers get messages in French?
Yes. Each contact and address can be set to English or French, and receivers at a Québec address get French automatically. Drivers can switch the main screens of the driver app to French in Profile > Preferences. The office app's wording is in English; Language in General settings writes numbers and money the French-Canadian way (1 441,00 $).
Customers and orders
Can my customers book their own orders?
Yes: in the customer portal, by CSV import, by API, or as recurring orders. See Add customers and give them portal access and API keys and webhooks.
Can I check portal orders before they go out?
Yes. Switch off Approve orders automatically on a customer's Portal & ordering page. Their orders then wait in Awaiting approval until someone approves or declines them.
Can the receiver track a delivery without an account?
Yes. Receivers get a tracking link by email or text, and the link opens a public tracking page. See Customer emails and texts.
Can one job have several stops?
Yes. Add Extra stops (up to 25) and an optional return to one order, for a lab run or a pharmacy round. A multi-stop job goes to one driver as a whole.
Can I set credit limits?
Yes. Set a limit on the customer and choose the Credit limit rule in Billing defaults: warn, hold for approval or refuse. See Billing defaults and automatic invoicing.
If I change my prices, do existing orders change?
No. A placed order keeps its price. Test changes first in Price testing. See Save price set changes safely.
Can I add a fuel surcharge that follows the diesel price?
Yes. Keep a fuel index (for example the NRCan weekly average) and add a Fuel surcharge (index) modifier with your bands. See Fuel surcharge from a fuel index.
Money
How do customers pay me?
By card or pre-authorized debit in the portal (through Stripe), or by cheque, bank transfer or cash that you record with Record payment (record an Interac e-Transfer as a bank transfer). Card money is paid out to your own Stripe account. Before you tell customers to pay by card, confirm with NemiRoute support that live card payments (not test payments) are on for your account. See Card payments and Stripe.
Do I have to use Stripe?
No. Without it, invoices are paid by other methods and recorded by hand. Customers just can't pay online.
Can I add a card surcharge?
Yes, with Add a card surcharge in Payments: off by default, at most 2.4% for CAD and never more than your card cost. Check the rules where your customers are first.
Do invoices go out by themselves?
If you want. Choose weekly, every two weeks, monthly, per order or at a balance in Billing defaults, and whether new invoices are saved as drafts or emailed.
Does it work with QuickBooks or Xero?
Yes, by CSV export: invoices, payments and credit notes in each program's import layout. See Export to QuickBooks, Xero or a spreadsheet.
Do you handle cash on delivery?
Yes. The cash-on-delivery amount is the value of your customer's goods, collected from the receiver for them. It comes from the staff order form, the customer portal (when the Cash on delivery order form field is Optional in Customer experience), a CSV import or the API. Drivers record the cash in the app, and finance receives it from them in COD cash, with shortfalls tracked. The cash is credited to the customer's account (never taxed) and the delivery is invoiced as usual. See Collect cash on delivery from drivers.
Drivers
My drivers are a mix of employees and contractors. Can I pay them differently?
Yes. Build pay plans from hourly, per-delivery, per-km, percentage and other components, and assign them by employment type or by who owns the vehicle. An Engaged-time floor covers rules like Ontario's minimum pay for platform workers. See Set up driver pay plans.
What do drivers need?
An iPhone or Android phone with the NemiRoute driver app. They sign in with your company ID, their email and a password from the invitation. See Install the app and sign in.
Does the app work without signal?
Yes. Steps, proof and clock in or out are saved on the phone and sync when the signal comes back. See Work without signal.
Do you track drivers all day?
No. The app shares location only while a driver is on shift, holds an active order or is online for offers. See Location and battery settings.
What proof of delivery can drivers capture?
Signature, photos, recipient name, a photo-ID age check, a delivery PIN, safe drop, and a GPS check that warns or blocks when the driver isn't at the address. See Proof and delivery rules.
Can I get extra drivers on busy days?
Possibly. The driver network is a pilot: it only serves pickups in a market the platform has opened, so don't count on it until NemiRoute support confirms your area is covered. Where it is open, you can offer an order to nearby network drivers. See Use the driver network.
Account and security
Who in my team can see prices, invoices or pay?
Each person has a role. Change what a role can read, edit, create or delete, or make your own, in Roles. See Invite your team and manage roles.
Can I require two-factor sign-in?
Each person can turn it on in Security; a company can't make it compulsory for its team. Only NemiRoute staff accounts are required to use it. See Your profile, password and sign-in security.
What happens when we reach our plan's order limit?
You are warned from 80%. At the limit, depending on your plan, orders are blocked, billed as overage, or allowed. See Your plan, usage and limits.
A customer asked for a copy of their data. What do I do?
Record it in Privacy and create the export. See Privacy requests, retention and legal holds.
Something isn't working. Where do I look?
Start with the troubleshooting page for the area: Sign-in and access, Notifications and portal, Orders and routes, Billing and payments or the Driver app.
