Watch: Recurring orders

2:18

Turn an order into a schedule, see the dates before they happen, handle exceptions, and pause without losing the pattern.

On this page

The series page (open a row on Recurring orders) shows one repeating order: when it runs, what it has created and what comes next. Anyone with orders access can open it; changing it needs orders:write, ending it needs orders:delete (Operations Manager, Admin).

At a glance

AreaWhat it shows or does
HeaderSeries name, Active / Paused badge, Set up in the portal when the customer created it, and a line with the customer, the rule, the pickup time and "copied from" the order number the series was made from (a link to that order).
ButtonsEdit schedule, Create due orders now, Pause / Resume (orders:write).
CalloutPaused, or the plan forecast.
FactsNext order, Created so far, Orders are created.
Price noteHow the series is priced, and "Editing this series never changes orders that already exist."
Next 8 datesThe coming dates, with holidays and skipped days marked.
Dates and ordersEvery date in the window with its state and order.
End this seriesStops it for good (orders:delete).

Buttons

ButtonWhat it does
Edit scheduleOpens the schedule form. Changes apply to dates that have not been created yet. Save with Save schedule.
Create due orders nowCreates the orders that are due now instead of waiting for the next run. Not available while paused.
Pause / ResumePaused: nothing is created. Dates that pass while paused are not back-filled.
End this series"No more orders will be created … The orders already created stay as they are." Confirm with End series.

A series can also be paused automatically; the callout then says why ("Paused automatically: …"). Fix that, then Resume.

Facts

FactShows
Next orderThe next date, "Paused" or "No more dates".
Created so farOrders created by the series.
Orders are created"n days ahead, as drafts" or "as pending orders" (from Recurring orders → Settings).

Dates and orders

One row per date inside the creation window, with its pickup time and, once created, a link to the order. States:

StateMeaning
Will be createdComing up.
CreatedThe order exists (linked).
SkippedYou skipped this date.
Holiday, skipped / Holiday: …A company holiday and the series skips holidays.
Blocked by plan limitYour plan's order limit was reached; retried automatically.
Could not be createdSomething refused the order; the reason is shown.
Missed (not created)The date passed without an order.

A badge marks a date that differs from the template. With orders:write, future dates that are not created yet have:

  • Change: Change [date] edits only that date: Pickup time, Delivery instructions, Note on the order. Empty fields keep the template value. Reset to template removes the change; Save keeps it.
  • Skip: no order for that date (undo from the toast). A skipped date shows Put back.

When nothing is due in the window: "Nothing is scheduled inside the next n days."

The same form is used for Repeat this order (button Start repeating) and Edit schedule (button Save schedule).

Good to know

  • Each order is created from the pattern order's pickup, delivery and packages, and priced when it is created.
  • Orders count toward your plan when they are created (as pending) or confirmed (drafts).
