Work a multi-stop job

Follow an order with extra pickups, drop-offs and a return: which stop is current, how to finish each one and what happens when a stop can't be completed.

Some orders send you to more than one address. The order screen shows them as one job: the order's own pickup and delivery, plus extra stops the customer added, and sometimes a return at the end. You work them one at a time, in order.

Spot a multi-stop job

Open the order. A Stops · 1 of 3 done card lists every stop in driving order, each with its number, its type and its state:

TypeWhat you do there
PickupCollect goods
Drop-offHand over part of the goods
ReturnBring goods back, after the delivery, to the pickup or to another address

States are To do, You are here, Done, Not completed and Skipped. The stop you work now is marked Now, and its address, contact and instructions are on the card.

Work the current stop

  1. Accept the order and complete the pickup as usual (see Complete a delivery).
  2. After the pickup, the order screen shows the current extra stop with a heading such as Stop 2 of 5 · Drop-off. Tap Navigate to drive there.
  3. Use the big button at the bottom, which follows the current stop: Arrive at delivery, then Complete delivery. The location check, signature, photos and recipient name are asked as for any stop, as your company requires for that kind of stop.
  4. When you finish, the stop turns Done and the screen moves on to the next one.
  5. The order's own Deliver to comes after the extra stops. The order only moves to the final delivery once the extra stops are finished or closed.
  6. If a Return stop is planned, it comes after the delivery. Work it the same way. The order is only complete when the return is done.

When a stop can't be completed

Use Report a problem in the ⋯ menu on the order while that stop is current (see Report a failed delivery). The stop shows Not completed and the job goes on to the next stop. Only the office can skip a stop or reopen a closed one: message dispatch if the plan needs to change.

Good to know

  • Packages are marked as handed over at the final drop, not at an extra stop.
  • The cash-on-delivery amount (if any) is not shown on an extra stop.
  • The steps of each stop use the same buttons as any order step, so they are saved on the phone and sent later when you have no signal (Work without signal).
  • The customer sees the same stops and their states on their order page.
